PRESIDENT’S INTRODUCTORY REPORT 2011–2012
Planned P rogramme 2011/2012
Classical Spectacular at Birmingham NIA 3rd December, Thursford Christmas Spectacular 5th December, Christmas Market visit to Canterbury and Rochester 13/14 December and Probus Christmas Dinner 19th December are already booked as is The Cromer Pier Show in July 2012 and The President's Barbeque for our Ladies in August.
There are also other ideas such as the Charity Quiz Feb/March 2012 (rearranged from Oct 2011),planned visits to, Durham City and Beamish, The Thames Barrier, St Paul's Cathedral, Kew Gardens, The London Eye and Theatre Trips, and an event to celebrate The Queens Jubilee. Obviously the success of all of these activities depends on the support of the membership and we are open to more suggestions.
Of course we must not forget the regular activities-- Green Bowls in the Summer under Geoff's tuition, Stoke Rochford Lunches organised by Keith and the Monthly Walks organised by various members.
I think we are fortunate at Probus O2 in that our membership has not reduced as it has for other Peterborough Probus groups, in fact our membership increased during 2010/2011 and we currently have 44 members plus 3 Honorary members and we will endeavour to increase our membership further during 2011/2012.
The Presidents Charity this year is Peterborough Macmillan Cancer Care for which I am asking support from the membership of Probus O2.
Unfortunately some of our members have not been in the best of health during 2011 and I know you join me in wishing them well.
Finally I hope we will all have a happy and healthy year and continue to enjoy Probus. Thank you,
Peter Knaggs President 2011-12
22nd October 2011
I was very pleased and felt privileged to be nominated as President of Probus O2 for 2011/2012 which I accept, and I recognise that I will have to work hard, to at least ,maintain the standards set by our previous Presidents. I am also happy that Joe Boulton has agreed to take up the position of Vice-President.
I would also like to welcome on board our new Executive Committee, some existing and some new members of the committee.
The Executive Committee has already, prematurely, started to put together an activities programme for the year and once Paul England, our Social Secretary, is back in harness, after his series of operations,we will see the programme start to move.
